Accounting and Computer Alliance (dba ACA, Inc.) was founded in 1984 in Latrobe, PA. Initially the company sold tax preparation software, write-up and an exceptional line of accounting products for CPAid, Inc. In addition, network installations and support were a major focus.

In 1994 CPAid, Inc. was acquired by Best Products and we decided to refocus our efforts and allegiances. We made alliances with other 1040 software preparation companies—those we felt were strong enough to survive the major acquisition phase occurring at that time—namely, Lacerte, Softax and ExacTax.

We limited our efforts strictly to direct electronic filing, creating Direct Alliance, for federal and state returns. In addition, we were among the very first to offer RAL (refund anticipation loans) / ERC (electronic refund checks) capabilities with our alliance with River City Bank and Republic Bank & Trust in Louisville, KY. But we also made the software flexible enough to use other banks.

ACA, Inc. has since received a 98% positive response from our loyal customers. Our renewal percentage is also 98%, obviously indicating strong satisfaction from our clients. Our preparers want the ability to control the status of their clients return. They prefer not to use the Internet or service bureaus for security reasons. With Direct Alliance you can file your returns directly to the federal/state government with your acknowledgements sent directly to you. If you desire to offer RALs / ERCs it’s very easy. After receiving the ack file, you simply send the file to the bank.
